The Ruidoso News announcement of the state meeting of Take Back Our Republic corresponded to an MSNBC story on the group (all 3 news channels have now run web stories with an earlierFox Newsop-edandtweet from the CNNdigital political reporter). Many stories from top conservative outlets and the Washington Post can befound here, but the widespread interest from local media has been equally important. Anyone interested in joining the state chapter of the group to learn about conservative solutions to campaign finance reform can come to Sacred Grounds coffee at 2825 Sudderth Drive in Ruidoso, and/or click onwww.takeback.orgor contact Justin Hill(334.329.7258orjustinh@takeback.org). "He buys and sells politicians of all stripes,"and"Give (politicians) money, and they'll do whatever the h... you want."were two lines in the debate last night. After the debate, no less a conservative than Sean Hannity said, "People contribute for the purpose of buying influence." If you ever needed a confirmation on why it is important tojoinTake Back Our Republic andcontribute today, last night's debate should have provided it. Our team was working on conservative campaigns last year, but we all decided that it was most important to find conservative solutions to stop us all from paying the price for the [...]

Takes Back Goes to Washington by: Beatrice Torralba After 7 months in operation, Take Back Our Republic has quickly formed from an idea from Executive Director, John Pudner, to an impressionable organization recognized for its research and policy advocacy. In establishing the organization, we spent the first months of conception by organizing state coordinators and reaching out to local media. We finally decided to take our advocacy to the next level. Bringing our poll findings and ideas to Capitol Hill, we sought to make an impressionable first visit to our policy makers. We met with 30 Congressional and Senatorial offices [...]

By Eliza Newlin Carney - CQ Roll Call The Republican Party has long championed campaign finance deregulation, but a small yet growing number of GOP lawmakers and politicians are joining in calls to overhaul the political money rules. _Conservatives out there in the field want conservative solutions on money in politics,_ said former GOP political consultant John Pudner, executive director of Take Back Our Republic, a new group rallying Republican support for campaign finance changes from a conservative perspective. Pudner just met with with some two dozen House and Senate Republicans during his first week making the rounds on Capitol [...]

534 of 535 Congressional Offices, 2 pairs of torn up shoes

I've seen candidates wear out shoes, but last week was the first time I saw two people wear out pairs of shoes in 4 days - as Beatrice Torralba and Eric Yang from our office joined me in talking to 534 of 535 Congressional offices. One leader with a major group was shocked to learn from Beatrice that the three of us - with Diane Cullo directing and joining meetings strategically - were able to cover all but one office. This included more than 20 sit downs in offices in addition to stopping at each office to give them survey [...]

Take Back Our Republic Executive Director John Pudner clashed on one issue with other forum participants - Heather Smith of Rock the Vote, Heather McGhee of Demos and Ben Rattray, the founder of Change.org - moderated by David Leonhart of the New York Times June 30, 2015 at the Aspen Ideas Festival titled, "Disrupting Political Campaigns: Shifting Political Influence from the Money to the Many." Pudner was the one panel member who thought the basic structure of voting (showing up at the polls on election day, etc.). However, all members agreed with the need to address the imbalanced nature of [...]

Before going to Capitol Hill, we wanted to do three things in each of the 50 states; 1) recruit members for 50 state chapters of www.takeback.org, 2) talk to state media, and 3) run a survey of conservatives and libertarians. Done. Below are the results of our interviews of more than 17,000 conservatives and libertarians in the past week which we will take to every Member of Congress and US Senate office in the coming week. Conservatives and libertarians do not agree with some campaign finance reform proposals from the left and they disagreed with some ideas floated, BUT most [...]

Getting Started-My First Week at Take Back Our Republic

July 6th marked my first day as a summer intern for TakeBack Our Republic. Back in the cold winter months when I was trying to put together my plans for the summer I could never have imagined that I would wind up in the heat of Alabama working for a young political start up. I was born and raised in Massachusetts but I am now a student at the University of Chicago. Chicago is infamous for the way politics has been conducted there in the past and not too much has changed. I_ve voted at least four times in the [...]

Freedom Fest Recap

Despite the dry heat of Vegas, I would ultimately classify my Freedom Fest experience as a success! I recieved 60 sign up for Take Back as well as discussed our organization's ideas with political figures including Gary Johnson. The former governor of New Mexico expressed that his main issue in regards to campaign finance is the need for trasparency in funding campaigns. I also was able to snap a shot of him signing up for Take Back! Besides my long discussion with Governor Johnson about campaign finance reform, I suppose my prime moment of Freedom Fest would have to have [...]

Successful Night With the Alabama Farmers Federation

Last week I had the opportunity to head home to Huntsville, where I had the pleasure of meeting with the Farmers Federations of Madison and Limestone Counties in Alabama. I was thrilled to meet and speak with Jimmy Parnell (right in photo), the President of ALFA and the State Farmers Federation, as well as Rex Vaughn (left in photo), the President of the Madison County Farmers Federation. Mr. Vaughn invited me to this meeting quite a few weeks ago, and I will admit, I was quite nervous, especially since it was my first time addressing a large group of individuals [...]
