RIP LTG Hal Moore
February 12, 2017 (AUBURN, AL) – The team of Take Back Our Republic was saddened to learn this weekend of the passing of legendary Lieutenant General Hal Moore. In the movie We Were Soldiers, Mel Gibson portrayed this fearless patriot and the true love and concern he had for those in his command who would put their lives on the line.
His family are in our thoughts and prayers, particularly the General’s daughter-in-law, who has been gracious enough to help as a volunteer coordinator for us. His funeral will be at St. Michael’s Catholic Church here in Auburn later this week. We will not try to compete with the many excellent obituaries hitting the media about this remarkable man, and we are not licensed to publish the great photos from AP and other sources, but invite you to read this account from the local newspaper detailing the recent trip by Mel Gibson and Vince Vaughn to meet him. This story also quotes from the letter he received several days ago from a senior commander in Afghanistan that attests to the high esteem to which he is held. While we all believe in our various causes, it is also important to acknowledge that a few select self-sacrificing people achieve truly great things that inspire the rest of us.
RIP General Moore.
