Take Back Our Republic Announces Southeast Coordinator Team
Take Back Our Republic Announces Southeast Regional Coordinator, Advisory Board Members and State Coordinators.
Take Back Our Republic is proud to announce the leadership team for the 6-state southeast region, led by Alabama State Senator Trip Pittman.
The region stretches from North Carolina to Florida. The remaining 9 regions will be announced later.
The announcement came at tonight’s Take Back Our Republic event in Dothan, Alabama. Hosted by State School Board Member Betty Peters, the well-attended gathering was the third TBOR event in the state in as many months. Senator Pittman, widely regarded as one of the most influential political leaders in Alabama, will serve as Take Back’s Southeast Regional coordinator and is based out of Baldwin County, Alabama.
“I have long been proud to call Trip Pittman a friend and ally, and I am deeply honored that he has chosen to take a leadership role in our shared goal of returning influence back to the people,” said Take Back Our Republic Executive Director John Pudner, a long-time Alabama based political operative. “As State Senator, Trip Pittman has proven an effective and principled leader, coalition builder, and advocate for his constituents, and his expertise and insights will be invaluable to our team.”
Sen. Pittman knows the importance and need for conservative solutions for campaign finance reform, but, more importantly, he has actively shown the personal commitment needed to affect real change. In Sen. Pittmans previous races he refused to accept PAC money and has been a strong advocate and leader in fighting to make certain that influence resides in the hands of the citizens he serves- not the state’s special interests eager to use money in exchange for access.
“It is a privilege to join the Take Back Our Republic team in this capacity,” said Pittman. “This is an outstanding organization with a mission aimed right at the heart of the disconnect that so many ordinary citizens feel with their government. In the State Senate, I have seen these problems firsthand, and I look forward to working with the Take Back staff and other volunteer leaders around the country to address much needed influence reform.”
A leader in both word and deed, Sen. Pittman will oversee Take Back efforts in 7 states, including: Alabama, Mississippi, Georgia, Florida, Tennessee, South Carolina and North Carolina. His goal will be to work closely with the previously established coordinators in state in the region to expound upon Take Back’s educational mission. Here is a sampling of some of the grassroots leaders who will be serving alongside Sen. Pittman in the region:
Bryon Sheehee, Alabama Policy Coordinator- A grassroots political operative, Byron brings extensive legislative and policy expertise as well as strong connections throughout the Yellowhammer state.
Tim Barkley, West Alabama Coordinator- A proud graduate of the University of Alabama, Tim resides in Tuscaloosa and has been instrumental in setting up numerous chapter meetings around the state.
Alexis Esneault, Greater Birmingham Coordinator and Students for Reform Coordinator- Formerly a Take Back Policy Associate, Alexis now attends Cumberland School of Law and has played an integral role in connecting TBOR with numerous groups.
Wayne Rossiter, Greater Miami Coordinator- When a Miami-Dade reform measure struggled to gain ballot access, Wayne led a team of Take Back supporters to gather petition signatures, and he has utilized his ties to the community to enhance TBOR’s presence there.
Jon Woods, Georgia Policy Coordinator- An alumnus of Yale and a successful practicing attorney in the State of Georgia, Jon Woods was one of the early supporters to sign on as a coordinator.
Haleigh Herring, Georgia Membership Coordinator- A veteran of the U.S. Army, Haleigh is an incredibly energetic young political operative who understands the importance of reform and has worked relentlessly to advance the cause.
Bobby Perry, Tennessee State Coordinator- Another military veteran who seeks to return influence to the people, Bobby leads our efforts throughout the Volunteer state.
Jeff Condry, Greater Asheville Coordinator- One of TBOR’s newest and youngest coordinators, Jeff jumped at the chance to get involved and has been extremely active in his first initial weeks.
Charles Hellwig, North Carolina State Coordinator- With over 30 years of political experience and a deep understanding of grassroots politics, Charles is one of TBOR’s most valuable coordinators and also serves on the organization’s Advisory Board
Campbell Southworth, South Carolina State Coordinator- A student at the University of South Carolina, Campbell is another young coordinator that TBOR is proud to showcase as we expand our message to young people.
Joey Comerford, Georgia State Coordinator- In addition to his extensive efforts in Georgia, Joey has also attended and organized events in Alabama and Florida to enhance our operations there.
Karis Lockhart, Central Florida Coordinator- One of the Sunshine State’s foremost young operatives and a rising star in the College Republican ranks, Karis understands the need for reform, and she has been pivotal in helping Florida residents attain greater influence in their government.
Peter Schweizer, Advisory Board member North Florida- an American author, academic, and political consultant. He is currently the president of the Government Accountability Institute (GAI), and is a former William J. Casey Research Fellow at Stanford University’s Hoover Institution. He is also Breitbart News Senior Editor at-Large.
Ed MacDougall, Advisory Board member South Florida- Former Cutler Bay Mayor Ed MacDougall successfully fought and helped stop the Miami Dolphins’ now-defunct push for a subsidized stadium renovation. As a known conservative leader and police officer willing to fight for reform, MacDougall proved an effective voice in stopping the giveaway of taxpayer money in South Dade for the stadium as another example of officials backing donors over constituents.
The Southeast Region is also home to 3 of the 15 governing board members of Take Back Our Republic. The entire governing board may be viewed here.
Founded in late 2014, Take Back Our Republic is located in Auburn, AL. Founding Executive Director John Pudner, previously an accomplished conservative political operative, was a leading strategist behind Dave Brat’s shocking upset over then-House Majority leader Eric Cantor.
