Campaign Finance Nonprofit Names Charles Hellwig North Carolina State Coordinator

February 23rd, 2015

Auburn, AL (February 16, 2015) _ Charles Hellwig has been selected as the North Carolina state coordinator ( Carolina-state-coalition) for Take Back Our Republic, a new independent, non-partisan group that is focusing on conservative solutions to problems with the campaign finance system.

After a career in political campaigns in both Virginia and North Carolina where he worked his way up from volunteer coordinator for the Fairfax County Republican Party to leading roles on local, state and federal campaigns, including Field Director for Oliver North (US Senate) and Campaign Manager for Richard Vinroot (NC Governor), Hellwig stepped out of politics for a while to brave it as an entrepreneur and small businessman. Three years ago, after the birth of his twin boys, Hellwig transitioned to a new role as _Mr. Mom_ for his kids. _It was time to focus on what mattered, so I sold my businesses and took the primary care giver role for my boys,_ Hellwig said. With that change in duties, he found time to get back into local politics and is now on the Executive Committee for the Wake County Republican Party, where his duties have included writing and producing their flyers & direct mail, dealing with media, fundraising, advertising, polling and more. _Naturally, as I got back into politics after some years away and witnessed the current role of big money, I was shocked at the overwhelming influence a few billionaires had in politics and the continued erosion in strength of broad based, grassroots supporters,_ said Hellwig. _When TBOR asked me to help organize their efforts in North Carolina, I jumped at the chance to make a difference._
