Take Back Our Republic officially released its first book on campaign finance reform, Taxation Only With Representation, at Thursday’s (1/21) campaign finance solutions summit at the Brookings Institute. Pudner was on a three-member panel with Mike Petro of the pro-business Committee on Economic Development and Peter Schweitzer, the author of Clinton Cash.
This book is the first comprehensive discussion of corruption in campaign finance from the viewpoint of a political conservative. In this book, Richard Painter discusses how our money driven campaign system undermines the vision of our Founding Fathers and just about every principle that conservatives believe in. Painter then lays out a plan for reform that conservatives, and the Supreme Court, will embrace: defining the government's right to tax its citizens in a way that will give each citizen a real voice in funding campaigns for elected officials. http://www.amazon.com/dp/1939324122

Dark money' in politics quickly growing BY GEOFF MULVIHILL THE ASSOCIATED PRESS | Posted: Sunday, January 3, 2016 12:00 am CHERRY HILL, N.J. -- Just before Rhode Island voters chose their governor in 2014, a group in Ohio transferred $730,000 from secret donors to another Ohio organization that spent the money on television ads aimed at defeating Gina Raimondo, the Democrat who eventually won a tight race. More than a year later, it's still not clear where the money came from or why two Ohio-based groups would want to influence an election 600 miles away. The same groups also [...]
Tonight’s debate, Al-Jazeera, our legislation Six days after Al-Jazeera America attacked our proposal to make sure unverified credit card contributions were not coming from overseas, Tuesday’s Presidential debate featured renewed charges that Iran is receiving $150 billion even if they ultimately reject the compromise agreed upon with The United States and the international community earlier this year. In light of this amount of money hinging on Government decisions, the GOP sponsor (Paul Gosar) of the bill based on our Educational Papers is concerned about foreign campaign contributions coming in among the hundreds of millions of undisclosed credit card contributions. One Chief-of-Staff [...]
From left to right, John Pudner (Executive Director, Take Back Our Republic), Congressman Paul Gosar (Arizona sponsor of legislation to stop unverified credit card contributions) and Louie Gohmert (Texas co-sponsor) at a press conference on Capitol Hill. Congressman Walter Jones (North Carolina) later joined the others as all three Congressman praised Take Back Our Republic for identifying the issue of unverified credit card contributions, and the potential for foreign money to come in through this loophole.
Please make your tax deductible contributions now so that we can continue to educate the public on issues such as political contributions from international porn companies and the potential for millions in unverified credit card contributions from overseas and other illegal sources. Getting through (literal) mud-slinging to Presidential Candidates An open letter to all Presidential campaigns - we proved this week that even mud-slinging will not stop us from getting to each and every Presidential candidate regarding conservative solutions for campaign finance reform (see Bloomberg story today, and recent New Hampshire and Wisconsin interviews). This week we were invited to Capitol Hill (next Wednesday at 1 p.m.) for the announcement of bipartisan legislation being introduced to address unverified credit card contributions that enable foreign and other illegal money to influence American campaigns. We will continue to work for opportunities to meet with each Presidential [...]
