IBTimes: Virginia Becomes 22nd State To Support Efforts For Money In Politics Amendment

Sunday the IBTimes ran our post regarding Virginia becoming the 22nd state to pass a resolution (HJR599) calling for a 28th Constitutional Amendment to reign in money in politics. In the past five months the IBTimes, or International Business Times, added an 8-person Washington office and doubled its unique monthly visitors to 40 million to pass Bloomberg and practically match the Wall Street Journal. IBTimes summarized the three central points;

  1. It’s a positive first step towards allowing people to support limits on dark money political contributions through legislatures.
  2. Virginia is not one of the states with a long history of corruption that has resulted in State Speakers of the House being indicted or even serving prison time.
  3. Super PACs have been scourges on our elections ever since Citizens United.
