Posthumus leading push for new campaign finance laws

Auburn, AL (June 25, 2015)_ National political non-profit Take Back Our Republic announced Thursday the selection of Bryan Posthumus as the state coordinator for the foundation_s Michigan efforts ( Above all, the group pledges to promote non-partisan solutions to issues plaguing America_s campaign finance system, by pushing to restore power to the hands of voters.

_I_ve spent years working on campaigns, from my own father_s and sister_s, to those of my company_s political clients,_ said Posthumus, a partner in Grand Rapids-based consulting firm, Calder Group, LLC. _So I_ve seen up close how candidates are financed and how those rules can not only hold back good-hearted civil servants, but also hold back the voters from having the voice they deserve. So I_m excited to join TBOR in finally making things right._

Take Back Our Republic (, or TBOR, is based near the campus of Auburn University and 90 minutes from the Atlanta airport. Its mission is to conduct research, analysis and public education on conservative ideas for improving the financing of campaigns for public office. One such idea is to incentivize small campaign donations from private citizens. TBOR believes that if more Americans have a voice, politicians will focus less on a handful of large check writers at corporations, unions or special interest groups who expect something in return for their contributions.

TBOR Executive Director John Pudner said Posthumus_s experience made him a natural fit for the group, largely composed of former elected officials and consultants, but that it was his passion for the subject that makes him stand out. _The legislation we_re going to be fighting for, the problems we_re going to be educating the public on, and the new mindsets we_re going to be inciting are absolutely necessary for this state and this country_s political processes to work as intended,_ Posthumus said.

It_s a philosophy Pudner said meshes with the one expressed on TBOR_s website, _We believe that the way in which we elect our officials is not a partisan issue; it is an American issue. _Our organization was formed and is run by individuals who understand the political process from the inside out, and are now seeking to educate people about the power they have to shape the process from the outside in._

_We are thrilled to have Bryan join our team,_ Pudner said. _He has been a close, personal part of the injustices of our current campaign laws and he has an unshakeable drive to see elections truly reflect the people_s will through responsible legislation.

_I am honored to have him in Michigan,_ he continued, _and he will do great things for the people there. But the most important and exciting thing to us is seeing how far the Michigan voters will take this issue and the real changes that will happen through the hard work of honest voters tired of having their voices silenced._
