AOC staff departure highlights the problem of corruption in Washington

August 9, 2019

“Saikat Chakrabarti, the chief of staff to Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, just resigned. As her top aide, he was also under investigation for campaign finance violations, including the creation of two PACs that seemed to be operating illegally. He is being accused of setting up two companies, where roughly $1 million was funneled, in order to profit and possibly skirt campaign disclosure requirements. This points to one absurdity of the current system: Hefty financial transfers from PACs to private LLCs are not necessarily improper, […]

They are eerily similar to the reaction of the political-industrial complex to this National Review article a year before Take Back Our Republic was formed, when they expressed the same contempt for our now Executive Director’s decision to run Dave Brat against the sitting Majority Leader Eric Cantor. Ted Cruz, AOC have it right on banning former members of Congress from becoming lobbyists

June 17, 2019

One of the biggest problems in our federal government is the concern about elected officials seeking self-enrichment, leading to motives beyond public service that potentially affect policy choices. A lifetime ban on lobbying would certainly be a strong, positive step. The next step is to stop the revolving door that lets them get rich after they finish approving money through legislation for future employers. The system of the haves and the have-nots are at the core of this issue. It’s […]

TBOR New England Chair Speaks at Senate Committee

May 3, 2019

That trust is gone. We need action by Congress to restore it.” Rubens, who lives in Etna and is New England Chair of Take Back Our Republic,  cited a recent Rasmussen poll showing that 53% of voters now believe that government […]
