Monday TBOR’s Executive Director John Pudner testified to the Wyoming Joint Elections Committee in favor of instant runoffs, and hours later the committee advanced the issue 9-5.

A majority of the five Committee Senators (Brian Boner, Cale Case, and Tara Nethercott), as well as a majority of the nine Committee Representatives (Aaron Clausen, Andi Clifford, Danny Eyre, Hans Hunt, Jim Roscoe, and Dan Zwonitzer), supported advancing draft committee language to the drafting stage at the next Committee meeting.
“We appreciate the confidence of the committee, and we continued to talk with those Committee members who voted to kill instant runoffs and still hope we can win them over,” Pudner said after the meeting. “We realize we still must work with the committee and other supporters for details on the form and timing included in a specific bill acceptable to the Committee, and then to the full House and Senate when they reconvene after the new year, and we pledge to work to provide information and answer questions by legislators as well as the residents of Wyoming on why the state would benefit from this plan.”
