Zuckerberg’s False Promise: Offer of Disclaimers was Compelled by Loss to Take Back Our Republic

AUBURN, AL- With all eyes on Mark Zuckerberg, the Facebook CEO has offered to enforce disclaimers on political advertising.

That’s good. Voters deserve to know who is paying for any ad, including those on Facebook. BUT, Zuckerberg’s false promise rings hollow.

You see, last year, our sister organization Take Back Action Fund brought a case to the Federal Election Commission regarding disclaimers and transparency on Facebook advertising. And, in a rare show of bipartisanship, the FEC awarded TBAF a victory!

The unanimous victory back in December was a strong victory for the voters’ right to know. Yet, Zuckerberg’s false promise is yet another deception. He isn’t making any sort of concession. He’s acknowledging a responsibility that was imposed upon him.

What do you think? Were you aware of Take Back Action Fund’s efforts for disclosure? Do you agree that Zuckerberg should be honest about what he is really doing? Join the conversation at:
